Mixed Masala Powder
The word 'tikka' is derived from the Persian term for bite-sized meat and was introduced to the Indian subcontinent by the Mughal emperor Babur. Chicken Tikka Masala is believed to have been created by a chef in Glasgow, Scotland. After a customer found his Chicken Tikka too dry, he added a mild tomato-cream sauce, giving birth to this dish. Today, it's widely considered as one of Britain's national dishes. Chunks of chicken are first marinated in spiced yogurt, charcoal grilled to perfection and then cooked in a rich, creamy tomato and spice infused sauce. A hint of sweetness from the tomatoes and cream, and a balanced blend of earthy spices, give it a comforting and satisfying flavour profile that is both familiar and slightly exotic.
